State Department for Culture, The Arts & Heritage

The State Department for Culture, the Arts and Heritage was established in November 2023 through Executive Order No. 2 of 2023 under the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage. This establishment saw the expansion of the mandate of the State Department by inclusion of two additional functions which are Library Services and Research and Conservation of Music; and four more institutions, which are Permanent Presidential Music Commission, The National Lottery Board, Kenya National Library Service and Kenya Cultural Centre. Through Excecutive Order No. 1 of 2025, the State Department was re-organized to be one the three State Departments under the Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services.
